North Curry Bells Appeal

We are happy to be supporting North Curry Bells appeal by making a donation to their charity auction in their effort to raise £150000 to replace the frame and fittings of the bells.

“Bells have rung in North Curry church since at least the reign of Henry VIII.  Half of the current bells are already over 200 years old.
But the bells can no longer be rung as before.  The frame and fittings that support them, and the bells themselves, are wearing out.  It is no longer safe to ring the largest bells together.”

The auction goes live on 1st October.  You can view the auction HERE

Mr Miles Raise £1000 for Musgrove League Of Friends

As part of our 10 year celebration, we held a small auction of prizes kindly donated by  Quantock Brewery and the Tea Room.  Together with all the proceeds from the bar, we are delighted to be able to present Musgrove League Of Friends with a cheque for £1000.

Featured in the picture above is Mr Miles owner, Colin Barrell and Carol Waterman-Smith, League Of Friends Committee Executive.

As part of our ongoing efforts to support the League of Friends, we also stock hand knitted tea cosies by Julia Steer, with all proceeds going directly to the friends.

Mr Miles Tea Room – 10 Years Old (well 11 actually)

We recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary.  We've actually been open for 11 years but the restrictions last year meant we couldn't celebrate in a way we wanted to, so we made up for it this year.  We hosted a party for 160 people, many of the guests had been involved in making and running of Mr Miles over the years.

We were entertained by 2 excellent singers - Dennis DeMille and Stevie Brown,  Stevie actually worked at the Tea Room for a while!  A hog roast was provided by Pyne's of Somerset, Quantock Brewery kindly donated a luxury hamper for a charity raffle and of course the birthday cake was made in house by Lucy, our top baker.

A great night was had by all.  Thank you to all who came and a big thank you to all the staff for working extra hard to make the whole event happen!
